Dr Amy Baraniak is a Senior Lecturer in Health Psychology at the University of Derby, affiliated with the College of Health, Psychology and Social Care and the School of Psychology. She serves as Programme Director for the MSc Health Psychology programmes (both campus and online). Her teaching includes modules like Family Health across the Lifespan and Living with Long Term Conditions. She is a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society and an HCPC-registered Health Psychologist.
Professional roles include Honorary Secretary of the Division of Health Psychology and Vice-Chair of Trustees for the Derbyshire Carers Association. Her research focuses on wellbeing enhancement, particularly among students and carers, with recent emphasis on workplace wellbeing during/after the pandemic and chronic illness management. She previously worked in primary healthcare implementing psychologically-based interventions for mental health, smoking cessation, and cardiovascular risk reduction.
Key publications explore post-COVID workplace accommodations, end-of-life communication challenges, and chemotherapy-related cognitive deficits in cancer survivors. She contributes to policy development through her work on applying health psychology principles in primary care settings.
