Dr. Bacon’s research focuses on the interplay between anxiety, stress, and substance use, particularly investigating alcohol use as a mechanism for managing social stress and the heightened vulnerability of individuals with social anxiety to develop alcohol dependence. Her work employs diverse methodologies, including surveys, cognitive tasks, and in-vivo experiments with alcohol and stress induction.
Recent publications highlight trends in alcohol consumption patterns, stress-induced drinking, and the role of social anxiety in hazardous drinking behaviors. Her studies often integrate clinical psychology frameworks with behavioral medicine approaches.
