Dr. Amrit Amirapu is Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Kent's School of Economics. His research spans development economics with focus on firm behavior, household decision-making, labor markets, legal institutions, political economy, and informal economies.
His empirical work examines how institutional factors like legal systems and labor regulations influence economic behavior in developing countries. Recent studies investigate judicial efficiency impacts on specialized industries, corruption costs of labor regulations, and social barriers to female labor migration.
Research employs microeconomic analysis and field experiments to understand development constraints in South Asia and Africa, with policy implications for legal reforms and labor market regulations.
