Amol Patwardhan is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Physics at Reed College, affiliated with the Division of Mathematical and Natural Sciences. His research focuses on theoretical and computational neutrino physics, nuclear/particle astrophysics, and cosmology, particularly the synthesis of heavy elements in extreme environments like supernovae and the origin of proton-rich isotopes in the solar system.
- Prior academic appointments include: Visiting Assistant Professor at New York Institute of Technology (2024–25), Postdoctoral positions at the University of Minnesota (2023–24), SLAC (2020–23), and UC Berkeley (2017–20).
- Education: PhD in Physics (2017) from UC San Diego, Bachelors in Engineering Physics (2011) from IIT Bombay.
His work addresses long-standing problems in nuclear astrophysics, aiming to uncover mechanisms behind isotopic abundances through computational models and collaborations. He has taught physics at undergraduate and graduate levels, including at New York Institute of Technology and the University of Minnesota.
