Dr. Amjad Nazzal is an Associate Professor and Co-Chair in the Department of Math, Physics, and Computer Science at Wilkes University. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Arkansas (2004), an MSc (1995) and BSc (1992) in Physics from Yarmouk University, Jordan. His academic appointment began in 2008, and he maintains 100% commitment to the program with research time allocated as needed.
Research interests focus on:
- Experimental optical spectroscopy and photonics
- Structural and surface characterization of nanomaterials
- Synthesis of reduced-dimensional crystalline structures
- Computational condensed matter physics
- Quantum dot applications in sensing and optoelectronics
His publications (2003-2008) predominantly explore semiconductor nanocrystals, quantum structures, and nanomaterial properties under various environmental conditions, with applications in sensing and optoelectronics.
Scientific Awards:
- NSF-MRSEC research grant (2000-2007)
Supervises engineering senior projects (ME/EE) and has consulted for Lehighton Electronics. Professional memberships include the American Physical Society and its Polymer Physics Division.
