Amira Elasra is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Warwick. She holds roles including Senior Tutor for Undergraduate Studies and Director of Pastoral Support. Previously, she worked at the University of Glasgow and has extensive experience across academia, government, and international organizations like UNDP, WHO, and USAID. Her research focuses on Education Economics, Labor Economics, and Applied Microeconomics with a particular emphasis on educational outcomes in England and policy design.
Education & Career: Amira’s academic journey began at the Adam Smith Business School (University of Glasgow) before joining Warwick in 2016. She has held roles in Egypt including at the Information and Decision Support Centre and the Egyptian Parliament’s Appropriation Committee. Internationally, she contributed to projects with the World Bank and the Indonesian government.
Teaching: She teaches modules such as Labour Economics (EC318), Economics 1 (EC107), Econometrics (EC226), and MSc Intro Maths/Stats (EC961). Her teaching emphasizes practical application through online assessments and data-driven pedagogy.
