Prof. Amir Boag serves as a Professor in the Physical Electronics Department of the School of Electrical Engineering at Tel Aviv University's Iby and Aladar Fleischman Faculty of Engineering, where he has been a core faculty member since 1999 after positions at Technion, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and Israel Aircraft Industries.
His academic credentials include:
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and B.A. in Physics (1983, Summa Cum Laude) from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology
- M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (1985) from Technion
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (1991) from Technion
Boag's research concentrates on computational electromagnetics and acoustics, with pioneering work in fast multilevel algorithms for field simulations, beam-based representations of electromagnetic waves, quantum-electromagnetic modeling, and advanced antenna design including nano-antennas. His imaging techniques span Synthetic Aperture Radar applications and optical device development, bridging theoretical physics with practical engineering solutions.
His distinguished contributions have earned significant recognition:
- Fellow of the Electromagnetics Academy
- IEEE Fellow (2008) for integral equation-based analysis, design, and imaging techniques
Prof. Boag actively shapes his field through editorial leadership as former Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, and by founding/organizing major academic forums including the annual Tel Aviv University Underwater Acoustics Symposium and Antenna Symposium, which foster international collaboration in electromagnetic and acoustic research.
