Amir Barnea is an Associate Professor at the Department of Finance, HEC Montréal. He holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of British Columbia, an M.A. in Economics from Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and a B.A. in Economics and Business from the same institution. His research focuses on corporate governance, investor behavior, and the interplay between corporate social responsibility (CSR) and financial markets. He teaches advanced courses like FINA 60204A Capital Market Theory at HEC Montréal.
Research interests include director networks' impact on governance, tax policy effects on CSR adoption, and behavioral finance factors influencing investment decisions. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with empirical analyses of market dynamics and institutional investor behavior.
Recent research trends emphasize CSR-stock price linkages, variance risk premiums in derivatives markets, and genetic/environmental influences on financial decision-making. Supervision activities include mentoring students in finance and corporate governance domains.
