معرفی
Amin Atashgaran is a DPhil candidate and Researcher at the Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Oxford, affiliated with Kellogg College. His research focuses on the role of extracellular vesicles in synucleinopathies through structural biology and transcriptomics methods.
Education
- BSc, MBiol (Hons) in Neuroscience from the University of Leeds.
- Completed a year-long research placement at the Mayo Clinic in Florida.
Research Interests
His work bridges extracellular vesicle biology with neurodegenerative disease mechanisms, particularly synucleinopathies. Methodologically, he specializes in structural biology (including cryogenic electron microscopy) and transcriptomics, with secondary interests in (epi)genomics and Alzheimer’s disease research.
Scientific Awards
- Beaumont Award for his Masters project on cryo-EM methods for neurodegenerative disease structural biology.
Experience
Previously worked in the Frank lab at the University of Leeds and the Ertekin-Taner lab at the Mayo Clinic. Currently supervised by Professor George Tofaris in the Molecular Neurodegeneration Research Group.
