Amber C. Thompson

Amber C. Thompson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Engineering and Technology at Western Carolina University, within the College of Engineering and Technology. She coordinates the Engineering Technology-Technical Operations Distance Program and holds certifications in Renewable Energy Management and Occupational Safety. Her academic background includes an Ed.D. from Liberty University, an Ed.S. from Northwestern State University of Louisiana, and degrees from Western Carolina University, Appalachian State University, and Isothermal Community College.

Her research interests focus on workforce development, engineering education, and manufacturing systems. Notable publications include studies on nuclear workforce recruitment, project-based learning, and improving production through software solutions. She has been involved in funded grants such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Project-Based Learning Program and the Gene Haas Foundation's Engineering to Rural Areas initiative.
