Amaury Hayat is a Professor at École des Ponts ParisTech (Institut Polytechnique de Paris) since 2023 and a permanent researcher at CERMICS since 2019. He holds a PhD from Sorbonne Université (2016–2019) under the supervision of Jean-Michel Coron, with joint supervision from Sébastien Boyaval. His research focuses on stabilization of partial differential equations (PDEs), control theory, and applying AI to mathematical problem-solving. He has held research positions at Rutgers University (2019–2020), ETH Zürich, Tongji University, and Peking University. His work includes groundbreaking contributions to boundary stabilization of hyperbolic systems, traffic flow control, and neural theorem proving.
Research interests span: stabilization of nonlinear PDEs, AI-driven mathematical discovery, and applications in traffic engineering. He leads projects like CIRCLES, addressing traffic congestion via autonomous vehicles. Notable collaborations include Meta AI’s Evariste team for automated theorem proving and Harvard CMSA for AI in mathematics.
Key achievements: over 30 publications in top journals (e.g., Annales de l’Institut Fourier, NeurIPS), invited talks at international conferences (CPDE 2025, Harvard CMSA), and supervision of students who have won awards such as the Shanghai Outstanding Graduate Award. His lab develops tools for energy-efficient traffic control and AI-assisted mathematical reasoning.
