Amanda Wilkerson

Amanda Wilkerson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Higher Education at the University of Central Florida's College of Community Innovation and Education. Her work focuses on equity-based pedagogy, community partnerships, and mentoring underrepresented scholars. She earned her Ed.D. in Higher Education and Policy Studies from UCF and has authored books with Palgrave Macmillan and IGI Global.

Her research explores topics such as Black student activism at HBCUs, first-generation student support, and culturally relevant teaching practices. Wilkerson has coordinated forums on social and educational equity and served as guest editor for the Urban Education Research and Policy Annuals Journal-Hillard Sizemore Special Edition. She emphasizes collaborative approaches to address systemic inequities in education and community development.

Wilkerson’s community engagement includes advocacy initiatives for nonprofits and governmental agencies, reflecting her commitment to civic participation. Her recent publications (2021–2025) highlight themes like HBCU student mobilization, mentorship frameworks, and Black women’s experiences in academia.
