Amanda Tasse is an Assistant Professor in Media Arts and Culture at Occidental College, focusing on interdisciplinary science communication through cinematic arts and emergent media. Her work merges generative media, VR/AR, and poetic science world-building to explore multi-layered knowing via embodied, emotional, and sensory experiences.
- Education: B.F.A. from Maryland Institute College of Art, M.F.A. and Ph.D. from USC School of Cinematic Arts.
Her research examines immersive storytelling for mental and environmental health, decay and regeneration cycles, and spatial awareness. Publications highlight transmedia science communication, mixed reality rehabilitation, and vehicular lifelogging. She has presented at Siggraph, ISEA, and CHI, and collaborated with Intel and BMW.
Selected scientific awards include the Student Academy Award, HBO Films Award, and grants from the Sloan Science Foundation. She also works as an art director and animator for documentaries that have screened at Sundance New Frontiers and the UN.
