Amanda Porter is an Associate Professor at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, School of Business and Economics, within the KIN Center for Digital Innovation. She holds a PhD in Organizational Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder and an MA from the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on collaborative innovation, digital technology applications for societal challenges, sustainability, and educational innovation. She co-founded the School of Business and Economics Future of Learning Community and served as Program Coordinator for the BSc International Business Administration (2017–2021). Her teaching emphasizes sustainable innovation, shared value creation, and qualitative research methods at both bachelor and graduate levels.

Research Interests: Amanda explores how digital technologies enable scaling solutions for grand societal challenges like climate change. She investigates tensions in sustainability-oriented digital platforms and the dynamics of collective action in addressing wicked problems.
Key Contributions: Her research has been published in leading journals such as Organization Studies and Journal of Management Studies. Notable projects include the Saving Our Oceans study on crowdsourcing for environmental solutions and frameworks for punctuated openness in multi-stakeholder collaboration. She has been awarded for responsible research and educational innovation, including the SBE Education Award (2021) and Comenius grant (2022).
