Amanda Payne

Amanda Payne serves as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics within the Linguistics Program at Bryn Mawr College, a member institution of the Tri-College Consortium (which includes Haverford College and Swarthmore College). Her office is located in Old Library, room 240.

She holds a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of Delaware, Newark, DE.

Dr. Payne's research spans a comprehensive range of linguistic subfields:

• Syntax, Semantics, and Pragmatics as foundational theoretical areas
• Sociolinguistics examining language in social contexts
• Mathematical/Computational Linguistics for formal modeling
• Lexicography and Corpus Linguistics for empirical language analysis
• Typology and Experimental Linguistics for cross-linguistic comparison
• Specialized applications in Language in Media, Language & Gender, and Language & Health
