Dr Amanda Naylor serves as a Senior Lecturer in English in Education within the Department of Education at the University of York, bringing extensive cross-sector experience spanning Secondary, Further, and Higher Education settings including roles as Advanced Skills Teacher, Head of English in comprehensive schools, and PGCE subject lead.

- BA, Manchester University
- PGCE, London University
- MA in Renaissance Literature, University of York
- PhD from University of York on teaching/reception of early modern poetry
Research Focus: Her scholarship centers on poetry pedagogy in secondary classrooms, evidenced by her recent publication Teaching Poetry; Reading and Responding to Poetry in the Secondary Classroom. She actively investigates digital learning tools (particularly iPad affordances in English teaching) and student transition experiences from Sixth Form to university, while maintaining strong connections to teacher training practices and curriculum development.
Professional Leadership: As subject lead for the University of Hull PGCE English programme and current University of York educator, she bridges academic research with classroom application through school-based teacher training initiatives and curriculum innovation projects.
