معرفی
Dr. Amanda M.V. Brown is an Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Texas Tech University. Her research focuses on microbial symbiosis, genomics, and bioinformatics, with an emphasis on understanding how microbes contribute to host adaptation and ecological stability. She leads a lab investigating symbiotic relationships in plant-parasitic nematodes, insects, and plants, using high-throughput sequencing and computational tools to explore symbiont origins, maintenance, and disruption.
Education: Postdoctoral Fellow in Comparative Genomics at Oregon State University; Postdoctoral Researcher in Population Genomics at the University of Montana; Ph.D. in Molecular Evolution from the University of British Columbia (UBC), and B.Sc. in Ecology (Honours) from UBC.
Research Interests: Microbial metagenomics, population and comparative genomics, symbiosis dynamics, and bioinformatics. Her lab develops tools like SRAmine for microbiome discovery and DarkMatter-dNdS for evolutionary analysis.
Awards: NIH R01 (2023), NSF CAREER (2021), USDA grants, and SPRINT TTU-FAPESP Award (2017). Current students include Shiva Aghdam, Hannaneh Ghavanloughajar, and others. Lab website: amvbrown.com.
