Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversityمعرفی
Dr. Amanda Lubit serves as a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellow hosted at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity, formally affiliated with Dublin City University. Her research critically examines the intersection of migration and disaster anthropology through gendered, racialized, and spatial lenses.
- PhD in Anthropology, Queen's University Belfast (2023)
- MA in Anthropology, Portland State University
- MPH in Public Health, Tufts University
Her scholarship investigates how interconnected crises—pandemics, refugee influxes, economic collapse, and political transitions—disproportionately impact displaced women. Using multimodal ethnography across the island of Ireland, she analyzes coping mechanisms centered on the analytical framework of "care" amid overlapping emergencies including Brexit, the Ukrainian refugee crisis, and housing instability. Her work bridges theoretical anthropology with applied humanitarian practice.
Key recognition:
- Marie Sklodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship for her three-year project examining concurrent health crises affecting displaced women
Leveraging her background in public health and humanitarian aid, she collaborates with governmental and non-governmental organizations to translate ethnographic findings into policy frameworks for future crisis response. Her research emerges from two decades of applied work addressing HIV/AIDS, homelessness, food security, and displacement in vulnerable populations.
