Amanda L. Sevilla is a Teaching Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Pittsburgh’s Dietrich School of Arts & Sciences. She holds affiliations with the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CEAT) and oversees internships within the department. Her research focuses on rhetoric of technology, media ecology, AI ethics, and pedagogical innovation. She currently leads the Foundational Pedagogy Collective funded by Pitt’s 'Year of Discourse and Dialogue' initiative, and will present metacognitive learning outcomes at a 2025 panel.

Her work engages media ecology theory through organizations like the Media Ecology Association (MEA), where she serves as Pedagogy Editor for their Explorations in Media Ecology journal. Research explores ethical implications of AI in education, rhetorical critiques of modernity, and online course design. She has presented internationally on topics like GPT-4 in pedagogy and technological phenomenology.
Received the 2020 Teaching Excellence Award from Youngstown State University. Current projects include applying forensic argumentation frameworks to crisis communication and advancing metacognitive pedagogy through funded initiatives.
