Dr. Amanda Keeling is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Leeds' School of Law. Her expertise spans disability law, mental capacity law, social care, and qualitative socio-legal studies. She holds an LLB from King’s College London and an MA in Human Rights from University College London, followed by PhD research at the University of Nottingham. Her work bridges legal theory and practice, focusing on how law shapes professional practices in social care and health sectors, particularly regarding marginalized groups like disabled individuals and those experiencing homelessness.
Her research emphasizes safeguarding policies, accessible legal information through projects like COALITION with Professor Rosie Harding, and the intersection of public space regulations with vulnerable populations. She teaches modules including 'Disability Law,' 'International Human Rights Law,' and 'Law and Society.' Affiliated with the Centre for Disability Studies, Disability Law Hub, and Centre for Law and Social Justice, her interdisciplinary approach addresses systemic inequities through empirical and participatory methodologies. Current projects explore Public Space Protection Orders and their impact on homeless populations, alongside advancing inclusive legal communication strategies.
