Amanda Hamilton is a Lecturer and Casual Teaching staff member at the Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) at The University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on structural effects of language contact, particularly with the Mudburra community in Australia. She holds a PhD (in progress) from the University of Queensland, an MA in Linguistics from the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, and a BA (Hons) in English, Linguistics, and French from Georgetown University.
Her research interests include language contact, change, documentation, and revitalization. She has contributed significantly to community-based projects, including co-authoring the Mudburra-English Dictionary and developing educational resources for Indigenous communities. Hamilton has received awards for teaching excellence and interdisciplinary research grants.
Her academic work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to education and cultural preservation. She collaborates with institutions such as Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre and has presented at international forums on language endangerment and revitalization.
