Amanda Garrett is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service in Qatar. She is affiliated with the School of Foreign Service and contributes to research and teaching in comparative and international politics.

Dr. Garrett specializes in comparative and international politics, with a focus on migration, ethnic diversity, and political conflict in advanced democracies. Her research explores how religious and ethnic minorities engage in political expression, particularly in Europe and the United States. She has examined issues such as immigration integration, ethnic violence, and the role of Islam in Western societies, with a regional focus on France, the UK, the Netherlands, and the U.S.
Dr. Garrett has received recognition for her scholarly work, including the Ernst B. Haas Best Dissertation Award from the American Political Science Association in 2014 for her dissertation When Cities Fight Back: Minorities, Local Politics and Conflict in Europe.
She has held several research and teaching positions, including Lecturer in Comparative Ethnic Politics and Conflict at Harvard, Visiting Research Scholar at NYU's Center for European and Mediterranean Studies, Fellow in the Multidisciplinary Program for Inequality and Social Policy at the Kennedy School of Government (2008–2013), visiting researcher at Sciences Po Paris (2012), and International Parliamentary Fellow at the German Bundestag (2006). Fluent in French and German, and proficient in Arabic, she brings strong linguistic and cross-national expertise to her academic work.
