Amanda Daly is a researcher focused on advancing understanding of soil microbial ecology and biogeochemical processes to enhance agroecosystem sustainability. She has held roles at institutions including the University of Vermont (UVM) and the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
- Education: B.S. cum laude in Environmental Science and B.A. in Spanish from the University of Vermont
- Professional Positions: Laboratory Research Assistant/Manager at UVM (2008–2011), Organic Extractions Analyst at TestAmerica (2007–2008)
Research Interests center on microbial and ecological mechanisms driving nitrogen release from organic sources in soils. Her work explores plant-soil-microbe interactions to optimize nitrogen availability for crops while minimizing environmental pollution. Recent projects analyze crop rotation effects, nitrogen dynamics in mineral-associated organic matter, and root exudate impacts on nutrient cycling.
Scientific Awards include:
- NSF Graduate Research Opportunities Worldwide Fellow (2016)
- USDA NIFA AFRI collaborator (2013)
- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program Fellow (2013)
- DOE SCGF Finalist (2012)
- HELiX Mini-Grant for undergraduate research (2007)
