Amanda Caldwell Wise serves as an Assistant Professor in the Occupational Therapy department within the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions at Creighton University. Prior to her academic career, she accumulated extensive clinical experience across outpatient, mental health, pediatric, home health, community, and administrative settings throughout Eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. She transitioned to higher education in 2021 after beginning her teaching journey at College of Saint Mary in Omaha.
Her educational foundation includes:
- Bachelor of Biology from the University of Nebraska Omaha (1995)
- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy from Creighton University (1998)
- Master of Integrated Health and Wellness from Creighton University (2019)
- Post-Professional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) from Creighton University (2021)
Dr. Wise's research program focuses on holistic health optimization through community-based services, preventive care strategies, and addressing health disparities. She integrates self-care principles for both clinicians and students while pioneering emerging practice areas in occupational therapy. Her teaching methodology emphasizes service-oriented learning that cultivates ethical, self-reflective practitioners committed to lifelong professional development.
Through active mentoring and program development initiatives, she implements her passion for wellbeing enhancement across multiple dimensions. Her scholarly approach bridges clinical expertise with academic instruction to prepare practitioners capable of addressing complex community health challenges, particularly in underserved populations where preventive care and wellness promotion are critical.
