Amanda Bayley is Professor of Music at Bath Spa University, leading the interdisciplinary research group Intercultural Communication through Practice. Her work spans intercultural music collaboration, performance analysis, and the intersection of music with ecology. She holds a PhD from the University of Reading and has been Co-Investigator on ERC-funded projects like Beyond East and West (2015-2023) and Interactive Research in Music as Sound (2017-2023). Recent projects include the ESRC/AHRC-funded Ecotones: Soundscapes of Trees (2022-23) and NERC-supported Hear Water, exploring environmental empathy through sound. She has received the Ruth A. Solie Award (2011) for her book Recorded Music: Performance, Culture, and Technology.
