Amanda Babington is a Lecturer in Music at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and Executive Officer of the Royal Musical Association. She holds a PhD and multiple master's degrees in Performance and Musicology. Her research focuses on Handel, baroque performance practice, and 18th-century Scottish musical culture. She has published extensively on Handel's creative processes and edited works for the Hallische Händel-Ausgabe. Her book Handel’s Messiah: the Creative Process (2024) explores compositional techniques. She specializes in historically informed performance, particularly on the musette, baroque violin, and recorder.

In teaching, she coordinates postgraduate modules on Repertoire Project and The Freelance Musician, and supervises PhD research. She maintains active roles in artist development and performance studies.
