Amanda Adams serves as Associate Professor of English and Department Chair at Muskingum University, while also co-advising the Gender Studies and American Studies minors.
Her academic credentials include:

- B.A. from Miami University
Dr. Adams specializes in nineteenth-century transatlantic literary culture with research examining embodied authorship and reader experiences. Her scholarly output includes the monograph Performing Authorship in the Nineteenth-Century Transatlantic Lecture Tour (Ashgate, 2014) and numerous articles exploring intersections of literature, gender, and environment. Current research investigates walking practices among nineteenth-century Anglo-American women.
She teaches American literature surveys, nineteenth-century American fiction, Composition, and interdisciplinary courses including comedy in literature/film and wilderness concepts in nineteenth-century texts. Dr. Adams also delivers the introductory Arts and Humanities in Western Culture and Introduction to American Studies curricula.
As an academic leader, she chairs the English Department while providing advising for interdisciplinary minors and contributing to cross-departmental programming through the London Program, May Term initiatives, and student organizations like the English Club.
