Professor Aman L. McLeod is a full-time Professor of Law at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, specializing in constitutional law, judicial behavior, and state/local government law. He holds a B.A. from Amherst College, a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. His career includes prior appointments at the University of Idaho, Florida Coastal School of Law, Rutgers University–Camden, and the University of Michigan.
McLeod's research explores judicial selection processes, constitutional interpretation, and legal ethics, with emphasis on the Second Amendment, electoral integrity, and international law. His publications analyze judicial decision-making, presidential influence on courts, and legal responses to geopolitical conflicts. Recent works examine historical narratives in international disputes and economic valuation in tort litigation.
Teaching responsibilities include Constitutional Law, Family Law, First Amendment, Judicial Behavior, Local Government Law, Professional Responsibility, Remedies, and Second Amendment Law. He actively presents research at academic conferences, including recent analyses of insurrection laws and Russia's justifications for the Ukraine invasion.
