Amadeo Parissenti

Amadeo Parissenti is a Full Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Laurentian University's School of Natural Sciences, with cross-appointments in the Department of Biology and the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He also holds positions as Full Professor in the Division of Medical Sciences at NOSM, Scientist at Health Sciences North Research Institute, and Professor in the Division of Oncology at the University of Ottawa.

Research Focus: Dr. Parissenti's research specializes in molecular pharmacology with emphasis on chemotherapy drug resistance mechanisms in breast and ovarian cancer. His landmark discovery of chemotherapy-induced RNA disruption in tumor cells has led to developing diagnostic tests for treatment monitoring. Current projects include validating the RNA Disruption Assay™ in international trials (BREVITY) and investigating TLR activation to restore TNF production in chemoresistant tumors. His lab also explores inflammatory responses triggered by chemotherapy agents.

Publication Trends: Recent articles (2012-2019) predominantly focus on chemotherapy resistance mechanisms, RNA disruption biomarkers, tumor immunology, and pharmacological strategies to overcome treatment failure in breast/ovarian cancers. Research spans molecular diagnostics, clinical trial validation, and cellular mechanisms of drug resistance.
