Dr. Alynn Martin serves as an Assistant Professor of Wildlife Disease Ecology and Epidemiology in the Department of Rangeland and Wildlife Sciences within the Dick and Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She is affiliated with the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, joining in January 2023.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Science in Biology from John Carroll University (2011)
- Master of Science in Biology from Grand Valley State University (2014)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Zoology from the University of Tasmania (2019)
Dr. Martin's research focuses on wildlife disease ecology and epidemiology, examining disease impacts at both individual (e.g., behavior, metabolism) and population levels (e.g., demographic shifts, outbreak dynamics). Her work employs field surveillance, genomics, and statistical modeling to address diseases such as sarcoptic mange, mycoplasma in bighorn sheep, brucellosis, and tickborne illnesses. Current projects investigate vector-borne diseases, wildlife-livestock disease interfaces, and zoonotic diseases, including studies on fire as a tick management tool, disease transmission in carnivores, and chronic wasting disease dynamics.
She conducts her research through the Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute, focusing on vector-borne disease, diseases at the wildlife-livestock interface, and zoonotic disease.
