Alycia Leonard is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science, affiliated with Christ Church College. She specializes in sustainable energy systems design, focusing on geospatial analysis and community-centric approaches to energy transition. Her work addresses green hydrogen development, economic-environmental sustainability, and subnational energy planning in regions like Kenya, Zambia, and Ukraine.
Leonard holds a DPhil in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (Clarendon Scholar) and a BEng in Electrical Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She teaches undergraduate courses in circuit analysis, digital electronics, and engineering ethics.
Her research integrates machine learning with policy analysis to create inclusive energy solutions, addressing challenges such as resource curse dynamics and stakeholder engagement. Current projects include the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) and Strategic Hydrogen Integration (SHIELD) programs.
Awarded the Skoll Centre Early Career Fellowship (2025–2026), Leonard’s work emphasizes practical strategies for local values incorporation in energy systems. She collaborates with the Energy and Power Group and has published extensively in journals like Applied Energy and Energy Strategy Reviews.
