Alvin Lieberman is the Albert Gallatin Memorial Clinical Professor of Business, Professor of Management Practice, and Executive Director of the Entertainment, Media and Technology Program at New York University's Leonard N. Stern School of Business. He has been a key faculty member at Stern since 1996, teaching courses such as The Marketing of Entertainment Industries, Globalization of the Entertainment Industry, Sports Marketing, and The Craft & Commerce of Cinema: The Cannes Film Festival.
His academic background includes a B.S. in Labor Relations from Cornell University and an MBA in Marketing from NYU Stern.
Lieberman’s research focuses on the evolving landscape of entertainment marketing, with particular expertise in film festivals, entertainment globalization, and innovation in media. His work bridges academic theory and industry practice, emphasizing the strategic integration of marketing, technology, and global platforms in the entertainment sector.
His influential publication, The Definitive Guide to Entertainment Marketing (2nd ed., 2013), has been recognized internationally, including being voted the best business book in Argentina by Fortune Magazine. The book explores the transformation of entertainment marketing through new media, digital tools, and global market dynamics.
Lieberman brings extensive industry experience to his academic role, having served as Executive Vice President at Young and Rubicam and Simon & Schuster, and as founder and CEO of Grey Entertainment, representing major clients like Warner Brothers and ABC Entertainment.
As Executive Director of the Entertainment, Media and Technology Initiative, he leads a program that connects students with industry professionals, fosters innovation, and promotes experiential learning in one of the most dynamic sectors of the global economy.
