Dr. Alvaro G. Taboada is the Cadence Bank Associate Professor of Finance at Mississippi State University’s College of Business, where he has taught since 2016. Previously, he served as a faculty member at the University of Tennessee and worked as an international bank examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. His research focuses on banking regulation, systemic risk, and international corporate governance, with publications in top journals like The Journal of Finance and Journal of Financial Economics. He currently serves as co-editor of Emerging Markets Review, editor of Corporate Governance: An International Review, and subject editor for Journal of Multinational Financial Management. Dr. Taboada holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Ohio State University (2008), an MBA from the University of Notre Dame (1997), and a BBA from Florida International University (1995).
