Alper BABA is a Professor at Izmir Institute of Technology's Faculty of Engineering, holding joint appointments in Environmental and Civil Engineering. His research encompasses hydrogeology, geothermal systems, groundwater contamination, and water resource sustainability.
He has supervised numerous graduate theses on groundwater quality, geothermal fluid impacts, and mining hydrogeochemistry. Honored with TÜBA's Outstanding Scientist Award (2007) and TUBITAK project grants, his recent work focuses on hypersaline geothermal systems and transboundary water management. He coordinates international research on arsenic distribution in geothermal plays.
