Almut Mohr is a Research Associate at the Franz Haniel Chair for Public Policy and a Doctoral Student at the Willy Brandt School of Public Policy, University of Erfurt. She also serves as an EIPCC Early Career Researcher. Her research focuses on social-environmental movements, energy transitions, and justice in the Global South, particularly coal phase-out processes.
Education: B.A. in African Development Studies (Geography) from the University of Bayreuth, M.Sc. in Climate Studies from Wageningen University (Netherlands). Her Master’s thesis analyzed the Hambach Forest Movement’s impact on Germany’s coal phase-out.
Teaching includes courses like International Climate Governance & The Global South and Non-State Actors in Environmental Protection at the Brandt School.
Professional Experience: Internships with Energy Watch Group, German Development Institute (DIE), and German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Volunteered with the International Youth Volunteer Service in Kenya.
Publications explore narratives in South Africa’s energy transition and the role of place-based activism in Germany.
