Almuntaser Albalawi

Almuntaser Albalawi is a Researcher for the Middle East Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Zone (ME WMDFZ) Project at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and an Associate Fellow at the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (PRIF). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering (2018) and a Master of Arts in Conflict Resolution (2021). Currently a Ph.D. candidate in political science focusing on Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) studies, his work explores chemical, biological, and nuclear weapons regimes and their enforcement norms.

Research Interests include WMD-free zones, nuclear nonproliferation, disarmament policy, and Middle East security dynamics. His publications address regional arms control frameworks, compliance mechanisms, and inclusivity in nuclear policy.
