Professor Almantas Galvanauskas is a faculty member at the University of Michigan within the College of Engineering's Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. He is affiliated with the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science.
- Education: PhD in Physics from the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden
His research focuses on fiber optics, ultrafast science and technology, and nonlinear optics, with groundbreaking work in high-power fiber lasers. He invented Chirally Coupled Core (CCC) fibers and Coherent Pulse Stacking technology, enabling advancements in laser-array beam combining methods. His innovations have been applied in industrial contexts, including microelectronics manufacturing and solar cell processing.
Professor Galvanauskas has authored over 200 publications and founded Arbor Photonics in 2007, which was acquired by nLight in 2013. His contributions bridge academic research and commercial applications.
