Dr. Allison M. J. Glazebrook is a Professor in the Classics and Archaeology Department at Brock University within the Faculty of Humanities. She holds a BA from the University of Alberta, MA from Queen’s University, and PhD from SUNY Buffalo. Her research focuses on ancient Greek social/cultural history, particularly gender, sexuality, slavery, and sexual labor in classical Athens. Current projects include an SSHRC-funded study on slavery cycles in the Athenian sex trade.
Teaching includes courses like GREE 2P01/2P02 (Language & Literature I/II) and CLAS 4V54/5V54 (Adornment of the Body). Awards include the 2023 Humanities Research Award, 2019 Classical Association of Canada Visiting Speaker role, and 2018 Teaching Excellence Award.
Key research areas combine textual analysis, vase iconography, and archaeology to explore marginalized groups. Major publications include *Sexual Labor in the Athenian Courts* (2021), co-edited volumes like *Houses of Ill-Repute* (2016), and articles on gendered space, slavery, and oratorical discourse. Active in academic service as past president of the Classical Association of Canada and editor for *Phoenix*.
