Allison E. Butterfield is an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Lasell University within the School of Humanities, Education, Justice & Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology and Justice Studies from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, with a dissertation on education and training in substance use disorders among probation officers.

Allison has extensive professional experience, including 8 years as a juvenile probation officer in Portland, Oregon; 2 years as a licensed chemical dependency counselor in outpatient programs; and roles as a licensed social worker in Massachusetts. Her research focuses on community corrections, restorative justice, juvenile justice, and substance use among offenders. She currently serves as an area representative for the American Probation and Parole Association.
