Allan Potofsky is a Professor of History and Civilization at the University of Paris, specializing in North American history and French colonial studies.
His primary research focuses on:
- North American urban, political, and intellectual history during the 18th-19th centuries
- France in America including the Age of Enlightenment, French colonization, voyageurs, Native Americans, and French America
- The "Atlantic" Revolutions spanning 1750-1850
