Allan D. Tate is an Associate Professor and Graduate Coordinator in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Georgia's College of Public Health. He also serves as Director of Biostatistics at the Center for Advanced Computer-Human Ecosystems (CACHE) and Co-Director of the UGA Biostatistics, Epidemiology & Research Design (BERD) under the Georgia Clinical & Translational Science Alliance (Georgia CTSA).
His research focuses on social epidemiology, examining family systems and child health dynamics using quantitative methods. Key interests include the impact of climate-related disasters and social conflict on population health, leveraging ecological momentary assessment data. He collaborates on interventions addressing family stressors, food insecurity, structural racism, and financial readiness for airmen through innovative technology solutions.
Tate leads or co-leads several high-profile initiatives: the Family Matters study (co-PI), a community-based disaster mitigation project with Athens-Clarke County, and virtual reality interventions for marital functioning and child activity. He oversees the analytic core for a Department of Air Force behavioral intervention and trains future researchers via collaborative coaching models.
