Alissa Packer

Alissa Packer is an Associate Professor of Biology at Susquehanna University, where she serves as Speaker of the Faculty and Department Head of Biology. She teaches courses including Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, General Ecology, Plant Physiology, and Plant-Animal Interactions, while also directing the Common Reading Program and contributing to the Committee on Teaching and Learning.

Her research focuses on plant defense mechanisms, particularly the role of extrafloral nectaries and hydrogen cyanide in protecting plants against herbivores. Her recent work spans plant-insect dynamics, soil pathogen effects on temperate trees, and science education innovations.
