Alison Subramanian

Alison Subramanian is a Senior Lecturer in Advanced Clinical Practice at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the School of Health and Social Care and the Health Research Institute. She joined the university in 2019 as part of the Advanced Practice team and holds a BSc (Hons), PG Dip in Advanced Practice, and is nearing completion of a PG Dip in Healthcare Education. Her teaching spans modules in Minor Illness Management, APACS, NMP, and the Physician Associate (PA) course, including clinical modules and dissertation guidance.

With over two decades of clinical experience, Alison transitioned from emergency nursing (10 years in a local hospital) to primary care as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner. She gradually moved into education, completing two secondments before securing a permanent academic role. Her research interests align with clinical practice development, healthcare education, and bridging clinical and academic perspectives.

Alison’s professional background integrates emergency medicine and primary care, reflected in her teaching across diverse clinical contexts. She is also engaged with the Health Research Institute, contributing to interdisciplinary health-related initiatives.
