Alison Miyauchi is an Associate Professor and Executive Director of Creative Arts at the Alberta College of Art and Design. She holds dual degrees in Commerce and Fine Art from the University of Alberta, a Master's in Art History from Bryn Mawr College, and served as a Research Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution. Her career includes leadership roles such as Vice President Research and Academic Affairs, Head of Visual Communications Design, and Chair of the School of Communication Design.
Her research focuses on Design Thinking, Social Responsibility in Design Education, Color Theory, and Typography. She has exhibited work in galleries across Canada, Scotland, and the U.S., including the Harrison Gallery (Vancouver) and Bennett Gallery (Nashville). Her publications emphasize design's role in addressing societal challenges through innovative pedagogy and ethical practice.
Teaching includes courses like Design Fundamentals, Public Design, and History of Design and Advertising. Her international experience spans Milan, Rome, Glasgow, London, and Nashville, enriching her interdisciplinary approach to creative education.
