Dr. Alison Jobe is an Associate Professor and Director of Postgraduate Research in the Department of Sociology at Durham University. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate Criminology degrees and focuses on institutional responses to victims of violence, particularly trafficking survivors, sex workers, and victims of sexual violence.
Her research explores:
- Justice access for learning disabled and autistic victim-survivors of sexual violence
- Sex work stigma and service provision
- Child protection and maltreatment responses
- Human trafficking and asylum-seeking narratives
Recent publications (2020–2025) highlight trends in sexual violence, disability justice, and criminal justice reform. She collaborates with third-sector organizations, police, and Rape Crisis groups.
She supervises postgraduate research students and has secured grants from ESRC IAA, Research England, N8 Policing Research Partnership, and Big Lottery Fund for projects like 'Towards Inclusive Responses to Sexual Violence' and 'Safeguarding Young People'.
