Alison Fixsen is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Westminster with decades of research experience in critical mental health studies. Her work spans eating disorders, psychoactive drug dependency, social prescribing, and professional well-being initiatives. She holds a Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf) and PGCE, and maintains affiliations with the Society of Homeopaths and Belgian Federal Science Policy Office.
Her research program examines the social construction of mental health conditions through qualitative methodologies. Current projects include a multi-cultural study of eating disorder caregivers (2025), building on prior work on green social prescribing during COVID-19. Research interests include:
