Alison Doherty is a Research Fellow and Methodological Innovation, Development, Adaptation & Support (MIDAS) Theme Manager at the Applied Health Research Hub within the Faculty of Health & Care at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). She holds a PhD from UCLan's School of Nursing and Midwifery, funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). Her research focuses on evidence synthesis, qualitative methodologies, health inequalities, weight management, and healthcare access for vulnerable populations, particularly those with intellectual disabilities or autism.
Alison’s academic career includes roles such as Research Fellow and Theme Manager, emphasizing applied health research and methodological innovation. She has collaborated extensively with interdisciplinary teams on projects addressing healthcare disparities, chronic disease management, and public health interventions.
Her research interests span systematic reviews, healthcare access barriers, and interventions targeting marginalized groups. Notable work includes studies on dietary interventions for autism, falls prevention in intellectual disabilities, and mental health support during pandemics. She has also explored deprescribing practices in primary care and the impact of arts-based interventions on older adults' wellbeing.
