Alison Dell is an Associate Professor in the Biology Department at St. Francis College. Her research focuses on axon guidance mechanisms in developing nervous systems and the impact of environmental pollutants on neuronal development. She holds a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Pennsylvania, an MSc in Environmental Science and Policy from the University of Manchester, and a B.A. in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College.
Her interdisciplinary work bridges art and science through initiatives like Art in the Lab, co-founded in 2015 to foster collaboration between scientists and artists. Key research areas include GPCR signaling pathways in neurons and the effects of copper exposure on embryonic zebrafish development. Dell also emphasizes innovative teaching methods, including academic boot-camps to enhance student success in STEM disciplines.
