Alison Counsell

Alison Counsell is a 0.5 Senior Lecturer specializing in Jewellery and Metalwork, teaching on the BA (Hons) Jewellery & Metalwork course in the UK and collaboratively at the Hong Kong Design Institute. Her practice-led research focuses on capturing liminal moments through experimental material processes, particularly using enamel and tactile mediums. She leads modules such as J&M Creative Practice 2 and integrates her artistic practice into pedagogy.

Her research affiliations include the Art Design and Media Research Centre and the Culture and Creativity Research Institute. Counsell’s creative work explores themes of nature, material transformation, and meditative observation, with installations and vessels incorporating materials like steel mesh, Jesmonite, and recycled electronics.
