Alisa Tigchelaar is a Professor in the Department of World Languages at Calvin University, specializing in Early Modern Spanish Religious Literature. She holds a PhD in Hispanic Literature from Indiana University and has directed Calvin's semester program in Spain.

Recent publications include studies on Marcela de San Felix, Cecilia del Nacimiento, and translations of medieval Catalonian texts. Her work engages with Platonic philosophy, Augustinian theology, and ecumenical dialogue.
Professor Tigchelaar also contributes to academic discourse through presentations at conferences like the Early Modern Women's Conference and ongoing projects on Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz.
